After welding up some errant holes and cleaning the engine bay, it was ready for a coat of paint! Did I mention cleaning?! A probably went over everything 10 times with Simple Green, Scotch Brite pads, sandpaper, repeat, repeat... Finally, after masking, a wipe with some DuPont degreaser.

Pat was over to help out and loan me his HVLP spray gun. I used Eastwood Chassis Black. A quart worked out pretty well and I'm very pleased with the results. More glossy than a semi-gloss but dull enough so the engine will stand out. I also bought an aerosol can of the Chassis Black for repairs or anything that might get nicked. The paint will need to cure for a couple of days before I mess with things too much.

I also have all the floor pan seams where I suspected a few leaks sealed with Eastwood seam sealer. Tomorrow I will spray on some rubberized undercoating and that should be all that's needed so I can get the engine into place sometime after work next week.

There are still many things to do but I'm having a lot of fun getting it together finally. And I'm definitely looking forward to cranking over the engine for the first time to see how my "new" and improved cylinder head works!!

I hope I can keep it clean until the next regional. As soon as it's back together, I plan on selling the truck so it's back to being my daily driver!
