Thanks again for everyone's advice on a machine shop, I should hear back today on the progress of it.

The 240 swap is in full motion. As far as the block I decided to follow up on one I found on CL that was already rebuilt (recently too) as the cost and time was less than fixing the block I have.

I know it is a general rule to replace as many parts as you can as you want to avoid any weak links as well as another teardown in 6 months, however where to draw the line? I...

The love of new hardware

Posted 12-31-2010 at 07:31 PM by EdsFunny

So, what I thought would be a fast one day swap of bumpers between the black Falcon and the blue one turned into a three day rust removal extravaganza.

Someone began the restoration of the black one from the top down, meaning good paint and re-chromed bumpers. I decided the blue one deserved them, and I justified the theft with some clean up work on the wiring and rust under the black one.

I'm a fanatic for new hardware - I think it's from my airplane mechanic background,...

Should have it back in six to eight weeks. Then the work starts.

The picture in primer is after boatloads of work. I am really happy with the quality of work and time they are spending on this. They even removed the doors to jam it properly. Guide coat is on and final block sand.

More EFI Fun

Posted 11-28-2010 at 08:05 PM by pbrown

The fuel pump finally arrived. It's been on back-order since August. It bolted in right where the old one was. I worked on some of the plumbing at the rear.

I still have a bit of hard line to finish with up front. I want to get the car a little higher to make that section easier to access.

I tested the new idle air control (IAC) valve. It fits and works fine. I did some testing. I installed the IAC in the throttle body. Then I set my retract settings to one and the start...

Small projects

Posted 11-15-2010 at 11:03 PM by Jeff W

While the car is at the paint shop I will be busy repairing and painting all the little things that will get bolted back on.

Two little projects below:

1) The little return spring is broken on my drivers inside door latch pivot (Picture below) Steve @ the doghouse is searching his junk pile for a good mechanism. I can't see an easy way to remove that spring and have not found a source for replacements.

2) The other picture is of the drivers side "splash...
