Oops I did it again even worse than last time.

I mentioned my latest oops in another thread and figured I'd start my own thread.

This oops isn't even a ford this time.

Story is the wife said i could get another cool old truck sold the 65 f100 4*4, but it had to be 50s..
I've been looking for 57-60 f100 with out much luck. (Budget)
There is an awesome 58 in Vashon that I'd like to buy but i dont have $6300.

So i was looking and found this different 57 international A100
Its big, its ugly but has a cool 1957 oldsmobile 371 ci big block in it.

What are my plans with it? No idea.. right now its getting it back on the road.

It was missing its driveshaft so im building one.
I need to locate a radiator and rebuild the brakes..

I have no plans to paint it.. maybe clear coat the patina..

Well i traded the international or something i like better and its a ford.

So let me introduce my new to us 1960 ford f250..

292 v8 4 speed manual.. 4.58 gears..

Now if i can only find the time to work on it..

That's a nice one! Looks like it's either been kept in good condition or restored at some point. How's it look close up? Interior shot?

I'd like to get a nice early to mid-70s F-series some day if I get more room to work on it. 3 cars and 2 motorcycles is my limit where I'm at.

Is that the correct location for the spare tire on a 1960 pickup? The truck looks like it is in really good shape.

In high-school I drove around in a '57, which is the same body style as that, but with the single headlights. My fondest memory ( :rolleyes: ) was driving down the road at about 45 as the hood flew up and rammed straight-up against the brow. Instantly blinded. These have a history of this, so check that safety catch!

It's not restored.. pictures make it look nicer than it is.. it needs a bit of work..

I need to patch a floor, rebuild a cab mount, repair or replace a fender, and replace a door. Not to mention get it running and stopping.
It's been rattle can painted.. not even the same shade of red according to the reciepts i found.. monte carlo red, international red, and one other..

As for the spare tire, not sure. Thats just a tire and wheel that was in the bed.. it's for a honda or something.
I think the spare is supposed to go under the bed..

I love the hood on the 57 and early 58s.. it screams dual scoops like the mercury cyclones..

I posted a craigslist ad trying to sell the international. Got a goofy trade offer.. so i fixed the ad to say only trades I'll consider are, 1957 to 66 f series pick ups or 60 to 65 falcons or comets..

Guy contacted me.. and it worked out..

Im going to try and get it running and driving tomorrow..

My plans are to fix the fender, door, and floor.. repaint it.. cheaply..
Single stage, might even do the rustoleum paint method.. tu tone it red and white..

Drive it as is, while i look over my options..

I so want to put a diesel in it, but that more work than i want to do right now..

Early 80s 468cu ford inline six diesel would be cool and i can get them from old school buses..

Brakes have almost been gone through. Need to go pick up a master cylinder.

Supposedly the brakes were done recently. Maybe in 1970.. the wheel cylinders were rusted solid and so was the master cylinder.

Ahh... I can almost smell that old-car (truck) smell from here.

Tank in-cab? Gene pulled his Ranchero tank out and replaced it, but the inside of his old one was very clean. You might be able to get it and relocate the tank underneath. On my '66 I just replaced the in-cab tank with a new one from LMC. All new with new hoses, I'm feeling better about it, but would someday like to get it out of the cab.

The lightning bolt and gear always made me wonder what inspired that. It's not like these old trucks were ever lightning fast.

Looks like it's going to be a fun project!

Love the logo on the front of the hood! A friend gave me a coat hook years ago with that on it. What does it designate? 3/4 ton? Truck line?

Not sure where the gear and lightining bolt came from. I know it was used for quite awhile, 40s to 66.. though in the 60s it was only found on the I6 trucks..

In cab tank.. looks brand new on the outside haven't looked inside yet. I've been told the 70 mustang tank is a popular under the bed fits the frame rail tank to use.. but where's the fun in that? I want the thrill of driving something that can blow up in a side impact..:WHATTHE: oh wait its not a chevy and i have a gas cap and most other cars on the road aren't rocket propelled..

But yes if i need to replace the tank Gene's old ranchero tank might be a good way to go..

The truck now has working brakes.. $225 spent at Napa who had everything in stock.. spent another $30 at the junkyard on odds and ends..

Got my Idaho duplicate title filed for.. they made me buy plates for the dumb thing even though im now going to reregister it in WA..
Cost me $150.. so now i have title and registration.

One of these days I'll see if it will run...

Parts i replaced today..

All rubber fuel lines..
Added a pre fuel pump filter
Fuel pump
Replaced rubber line from pump to carb with steel line.

Added a battery..

Got truck to run off starting fluid.. sounds good too.

Carb leaks... so much for recently rebuilt..

Carb is off and soaking in a vat of nasty chemicals.

Discovered that the Holley carb is stock.. C0TE part number.

Anyone else going to the Portland swap meet next weekend?
I'll be there Saturday.

There has to be some meaning to it - it certainly didn't mean they were lightning fast... though that might all be relative. I have an old post-card saying "You drive a car at 40 MPH - at 80 MPH you are aiming it!"

I've not been in about 8 or 9 years. Clearly an intense swap meet and I've never felt it worth going to if I could not spend at least 2 days there (motel needed, which was always a challenge to find any that were empty nearby).

It is really two swap meets in one location. The Portland Swap Meet and Portland International Raceway (PIR) Swap Meet. Miles of walking.

I'm only going to the PIR swap meet.

I'm staying in Kelso/Longview bringing over the travel trailer.


My 2015 f250 has the gear around the 6.7 powerstroke badge on the doors..

I think the air vents inside are gear shaped as well.

Yep has a holley 2300 series carb with a ford tag rivited to the air horn and a ford p/n stamped in it..

Too bad my weekend was so busy that i never got the carb back on the truck.

Well sorta..

I cant get it started on its own, but once its started it will idle and run.

The carb needs some major adjustments something isnt right.

I think the squirter at the top of the carb is wrong.. doesnt spray fuel it dribbles it..
Step on the gas and ot wants to spit and stall.. once its warm its not as bad..

I drove it. Steering wheel is way off..

Sounds really good though.. im digging the Y block
