    Tire size

    Hey guys,

Is anyone running a 205-75-14 on a 6" wide rim on the rear end of their round Body?

I'm wondering if that is going to give me clearance issues? To complicate things I'm using a 8" rear from a Maverick that is about 1" wider overall than the original rear.

I have 185s all around right now and I want to give it a little attitude, or at least some altitude

Bill if it helps any I am running a 225x45x17 on the back of my falcon. It's tight but it fits with no rubbing.

Are you still running a 8" or 8.8"?

Both they fit with the eight and I'm almost done doing the 8.8 swap. The eight inch was at 56.5" WM to WM. The 8.8 is at 57" WM to WM.
WM =wheel mount surface. If the flu hadn't caught me I'd be test driving it now.

One more question, do you remember the back space on your wheels?

Do you have a tire shop that will test fit for you? We have a local one here that as long as the have the size tire I'm looking for will mount on the wheels and then the car to see what kind of clearance there is.

No Scott, I would have to drive the car to Spokane.

I did mount the wheel and did some measuring. Pretty sure I can fit a 205-70-14. The rear might be a fight to get on. Even at full droop there isn't much room between the brake drum and fender opening.

I may go with a 195 just to be safe.

Bill - while I have a '65 I do have to jack up the body of the car to remove the rear tires. Granted this is typically in my garage with the axle on jack stands but running 235's on the rear I don't have the space to have them just drop off. I do like being able to run a wider tire even though tire changes take a little while longer.

Got to thinking this morning how ironic it is that I moved from 205's to 185's this winter.
