Thread: I6 clutch set

  1. #16
    Probably not.

    I can find 302 truck flywheels all day long 67 on up at the local recycler.
    There's never a manual trans car to be found.. well maybe 80s 4 banger stuff but you knew what I meant.

    I'll keep looking, I'll bring you the clutch kit in march as the first week I'm over there I'll be super busy.

    My research (Google) did come up as a 240ci I6 and I took it a the recycle bin today, as I was tired of moving it back & forth trying to get in my box of bolts all the time. I imagine it's on it's way to a furnace somewhere very soon.

    After doing boocoo research I think I made myself 100% confused.

    I stumbled across an internet thread claiming ford 260 were a 26.2 oz imbalance.
    So I researched some more... and according to Bob Mannel and Des Hammill from the fairlaner magazine Jaan/Feb 2008 issue;
    Not only did the 1964 260 have a 26.2 imbalance, but the 1962 to 1963 260 had a 24.5 imbalance. The 63 to 68 289 had the 28.2 imbalance...

    So needless to say it looks like what ever flywheel I use I better use the matching balancer other wise I'll be off balance...

    Good reading for those playing with v8s
