I have a 1963 Futura with a 260 V-8 and a two-speed Ford-O-Matic transmission. The car did not have the correct throttle linkage and did not have the transmission "kick-down" rod when I bought it. After watching e-bay for two months I finally found the throttle linkage assembly that I needed.

I finished installing the linkage today and took it on a test run. The downshift function worked perfectly. I now have a passing gear! The two different springs for the throttle and downshift link can be felt in the gas pedal. I get a lighter pedal pressure for the first half of the range and then a stiffer pressure lets me know when I am activating the down shift. When I eased back on the pedal I got an immediate upshift back into second. It was great. The car now feels a lot more interactive and lively. I love the instant response of the transmission and the car really is a lot of fun to drive.
