Does anyone know what kind of plate covered the parking brake access panel on the bottom left frame of my '63? Looks like it took 4 screws or bolts. I think I'll just use an 18 gauge plate, but... did it have a gasket?

If it's running, take it apart and see why.
Mine didn't have a gasket but I did seal it. When I took that cover off it was completely packed with dirt. I think I might have used a little heavier material. Larry

Thanks, Larry. Was it just a steel plate? If so, do you remember offhand if it was screws or bolts?

The existing panel was rusted through and as I mentioned I made the new one a bit thicker, although it may have been the same (un-rusted) as the original. The fasteners were sheet metal screws around 3/16 diameter.

Excellent, thanks. I'll make an 18-gauge plate and put some sealant on for the install. Even I can handle that level of sheet metal work...
