Thread: transmission question.

65 was the first year of the C4 transmission. The C4 from the 289 will work but you'll need to swap the bellhousing between the two.

Be sure to save the old 289 bellhousing. If it is a five bolt, it is quite hard to find.

The C4 is not hard to rebuild. If you can replace it, you can rebuild it.

    transmission question.

hello. i have a 1965 ford falcon wtih a 200 cubic inch 6 cyl. and a cruise-o-matic transmission. ufortunately the tranny is bad and i need a new one. i found a C4 for sale that was in a fairlane with a 289, and i am wondering of the transmission will match up to my engine or will i have to find one taht was made for a 6 cyl, or is there even a difference in trannys?
