    Picked up another 64

Of course this one is a Fairlane Sports Coupe K-Code (289 hipo) 4-speed car.

According to my research, they only made around 600 of these and at least 100 became ThunderBolt drag cars. Although, the T-Bolts were all post cars they all started out as K-Codes.

The Good: This kid (now 46) has had this car for 30 years, since 1983 as his high school car. He is also a mechanic and has gone through the brakes, front suspension, rear end (3.89), Transmission (Toploader 4-Speed), engine 289HiPo 271hp. All have less than 700 miles on the total build.

He also soda blasted it down to bare metal, and re-painted it about 6-yrs ago.

The Bad: The interior seats are toast and the outer color is grey/blue with some metallic in it and she's not sexy yet.

I have to see if that paint (3 coats of single stage) can be saved, or if it needs to just be sanded/scuffed and re-shot. If I repaint it, it goes back to Wimbeldon White with Red interior. If I can save the paint then it goes to a black interior. Although I am leaning on re-paint since there is no body work to do and it would take it back to factory original.

So if you know of any Fairlane parts, American Racing or Cragar mags 15x7, etc. let me know. Also a great interior guy would be appreciated as would a shop that actually paints old cars.

    Thanks.

Nathan was selling his wagon. You could have twins!

Sweet looking car though. A 64 Fairlane might just be the thing to make me park the Falcons... almost.

    Good luck with it!

Very nice ride! Always loved those ThunderBolts. I would vote for the Wimbledon/Red combo. It screams 60's.

You might check with Jake at Original Falcon Interiors in Seattle. He mostly has NOS Falcon and Comet interiors but may dabble in other Ford stuff from that era. I've always got along with Jake and like dealing with him. YMMV

Thanks John. Do you have the name of the place? Yep a lot of construction in my neck of the woods. But hey, I may be selling off 1/2 my land and building a new garage/shop for my cars .

Did a dry fit of my 15x7 205/60R15s on the new girl yesterday. Pics attached. I think on this car though I may go with Torque Thrust D and more tire than the low profile ones shown in the pic.

So if anyone has some old TTDs squirreled away, let me know.
