    Sun Lakes Car Show

Sun Lakes Resort (http://www.sunlakesparkresort.com/) is hosting a show this coming Saturday. A few friends (not Falcon people) and I are entering. If you're in the area, stop by. It's a beautiful venue. I heard a club from Wenatchee is coming en masse, so it might be interesting.

I took the Falcon for a drive through the park that is hosting this event tomorrow and took a pic of the venue from the highway above. That's Park Lake in the foreground and Blue Lake in the distance. All in Central Washington's 'Lower Grand Coulee'. Beautiful!

Wow! The air is really clear. That is spectacular scenery. A perfect backdrop for your Ranchero.

    Sun Lakes Car Show

It is a beautiful location. Carol and I and all the kids, grandkids and greatones go here quite often. There are a bunch of great fishing holes right near as well. I am sure Gene knows them all. The biggest trout I ever caught was out of Park Lake. A 29", 8 1/2 lb. brown. also caught some very nice fish out of Deep Lake and Dry Falls within a 1/2 mile of Park.

I would very much like to go to this show. We'll see.

Also a nice little nine hole golf course right there.

Never caught anything as big as your Brown, but a friend and I each took 25+ lbs. (5 fish limit) of Rainbow out of Deep Lake (on flies) several times.

It'd be nice to see you at the show tomorrow! Per the flyer, there's a free nights campsite for registered cars.

Looks like it's a nice venue. Maybe I'll make the second annual...

Great area. I thoroughly enjoyed the dry falls, never knew it existed.

I'd love to explore the area some more. My last trip out there on the way home we followed the water around the back side to the grand coulee damn.
Too bad it was before they started the light show on the damn.

Maybe next time the kid will be able to see the light show. He still enjoyed seeing different stuff.

This was a nice show! Lotsa sun. 58 or so cars entered. Mine was the only Falcon. Here's a pic of the cars of my neighbors and me. We won no trophies but had a good time! Organizer says they're gonna do it again next year.

    The Ranchero looks nice.

    Hello, Gene.

The grass and trees makes it look pleasant and comfortable. It beats parking in the middle of a big asphalt parking lot and baking in the sun.

Did you lower your car? If so, by how much?
What size wheels do you have, and were 14-inch wheels standard in 1965?
What kind of car is that to your left?

    Thanks, Dennis.

Too bad Carol and I couldn't make it. Hope they have the show next year. We will put it on our new Falcon calendar. Larry

    Dennis,
The grass made it quite nice, but it was very bright day today (as is the case most of the time in this area) and 85 degrees, so shade was much sought after and fleeting. Asphalt in this venue would have been blistering!

My car is lowered 2" at both ends. I still have the standard 14" wheels but 7" in rear and 6" in front rather than the stock 5". Though these wheels (Magnum 500's) weren't offered for this car in '65, I love the "period correctness".

The black car to my left in the pic is a '66 Mustang 2+2 w/289 and factory 3 speed on the floor. On my left in real life is a '67 Dodge Dart Swinger. It was originally a 340 car that has acquired a 360 installed by the P.O. Both cars are very clean.

Larry, the organizer says they are going to do it again next year about the same time.
