    Hello,
A newbie in the best & worst ways possible.
Tragedy brings me to our club.
    Best friend died.
The family gifted me with his 1965, 289, 4 spd, standard Ranchero.
It's an R in so many ways. Rough, Rusty, Rasty etc.
I am Max Griffith, live on Vashon Island, about to retire.
A Luddite by choice and circumstances.
The plan is to put the R in good useable condition.
So I will be around with questions.
Right now looking for a pair or set of 5 bolt 14" rims.
    With or without tires.
    Thanks,
    Max

Hi Max. I'm retired, have a '65 Ranchero, and my phone is an old flip phone. Older is better.

Assuming you have internet, you might contact this guy about wheels; it sounds like he has both 14x7 and 14x6 wheels. If no internet, his phone number is listed as (360) 566-3434 ext. 360.

    Hi Bill,
    Thanks for the greeting.
    Nice Sprint.
I apologize in advance if I speak of the unspeakable but:
I have given a bit of thought to perhaps swapping out the doors and windshield frame to get to a rag top Ranchero.
Any 64-65 Sprint donor hulks (hulk = unrestorable) around?
If there is a bias here against "resto/Mod" let me know and I'll be quiet.
Since I am into the deep end already, one other more philosophical question.
What constitutes a collection? 1 car?, 2 or more? or more than 3?
    Running? Garaged?
Or is it all just a hoarding disorder?

Welcome Max. Interesting thought about the ragtop. Some of us have done a few resto-mod changes to our Falcons. Mine is stock looking outside with minor changes in the interior. Changed to independent suspension and different engine transmission and rear end.
There are some in this club who know all about collecting. I will let them chime in. Again, welcome and have fun. Larry

Welcome to the forum. I would encourage you to use join the Falcon Club of America and then the Rainier Falcon Club chapter. Great group of folks and you'll get a lot of good advice here.

Good question on the collecting/hoarding. My wife would kill me if I got another Falcon - doesn't mean I don't look. Instead I just have a dozen or so classic bicycles that I maintain and ride. Cheaper and better for my marriage.

While my brother (Gitane Steel) collects bicycles I took on our fathers love of numerous cars. Hoarding is open to interpretation as I currently have 7 vehicles, 3 of which are classics. All run and are driveable and they are my relaxation, when time allows.

Now the problem with having more than one classic is that each one will have some sort of project, which means parts accumulation. And then new ideas, and more parts. Of course having an understanding spouse does make a difference!

Welcome to the club Max. Your friend will always be with you through this car and it may bring new friends as well-a pretty nice gift.
    Look forward to some pics.
