Thread: engine color

    engine color

    I have my old 170 6cyl all hot tanked and clean and now I need to paint it and I don't really know what color it was from the factory other than the valve cover was red or orange.........thanks for any help..

    John,

    I'll double check this when I find the book, but as I recall the engine block and pan are low-gloss black and the valve cover is Ford red.

    What you going to do with the 170 motor? Coffee table? Buy that white falcon and put it in there?

    I am going to mock it up and put it in my museum, but now I can't seem to locate the dist,carb,or the old water pump...guess I'am not off to a very good start....ps, I did find the pan.
