We drove the Falcon up to New Port Richey (about 30 miles north of Tampa) today to see the "Chasco Fiesta" (some say "Fiasco").

"Chasco Fiesta™ offers nine days of family fun and entertainment along the banks of the beautiful Pithlachascotee River in downtown New Port Richey Florida."

Ray Pena, Master Falconer, was showing off his Falcon and gave a demonstration of Falconry. He also had a pair of hawks named Zeus and Hera.

The Falcon show was followed by Aztec dancing.

Was that an Aztec rain dance? The skies looked ready to open up and pour down upon you all. Do you have a safe place to park the Falcon when the weather goes south?

Of course, we don't need any more rain here. We're saturated and there was a massive landslide just north of us a couple days ago that's apparently making national news. 8 people have been killed so far and 18 are still missing. It happened on a nice day too - and though this weekend and today are gorgeous, we expect 5 more days of rain starting again tomorrow to set an all-new rainfall record for March.

I heard about this on the radio while I was driving home from work today. They said that it happened this past Saturday morning while everyone was at home and that over a hundred people are missing. The entire hill side let go. It was terrible.

The skies clouded over and the temperature dropped when the Aztecs started dancing. It kept them cool and comfortable while they performed their show and when they finished the sun came back out. It looked like they knew what they were doing.
