Hey guys and gals,

I mentioned at the last meeting an idea I had about renting a swap space and setting up a tent and our banner and making it a dual sell our stuff and recruit new members at the same time sort of thing.

My idea is to find out what, if anything, you may have you want to get rid of, collect it all in one location, and then haul it all out there and sell it. The idea I had was to make a percentage of the sales go to the club (to pay for the spot and add to the general fund) and the rest goes to whoever owns the stuff.

I'm trying to get this figured out soon so I can decide to reserve one or two spots. So if you're hip to this idea, let me know as soon as you can.

Hi Roger, I really don't have much to sell at this point. The few extra Ford items I have I am going to hold until I get a better feel on what the wagon needs.

If I do find some items, it would just be a handful of items and certainly wouldn't require much space.

Unless something major comes up, you can count on me to work a 1/2 day shift at the stand. Is that what you had in mind?

Here is what I have off the top of my head:

round body trunk lid
complete T-Bird IRS assembly
65-65 Mustang V8 spindles
brand new never used chain hoist
two sets of 62 Futura fender birds (one set in fresh chrome)
62 Falcon horn ring
62 Falcon bumper jack

I'm sure I can come up wit some other things if I look through the garage.

What is the date? I want to get it on my calender.

May 16th and 17th. Setup day is on the 15th.

Obviously with some of the larger items I may need to twist someone's arm to help on Friday to setup (I'll have to take the day off work). So anybody who can be available that day? I plan to arrange the space by the weekend, so anybody else with stuff?

Apparently I am tied up Sunday (Syttende Mai). Put me down to work it Saturday. I would like to take a bit of a look around but can stay the day. Maybe someone can tag team with me.

Roger,

If it doesn't look like you will have enough help from guys closer too you on your setup day, friday I will be available. I also will go through my left over stuff to see if any of it is worth while to sell.

Nathan,
I'm in the Ephrata area a lot in the summer, and would be happy to meet you someplace 'tween there and you, or can make arrangements for you to leave your parts at my place near Soap Lake. Matter of fact, I'm going to be there this week-end and next (I like to fish over there). I would be happy to meet you anytime b/4 the meet.

OK, thanks for the offer folks. As the day approaches we'll fashion a plan. At this point I'm thinking to get just one space, which will likely be enough.

I have sent payment of $35 to the swap meet for a 10x20 outdoor space. I will either get a confirmation back or my check back. So far I have not received my check back. Please start collecting stuff you might want to sell if you want to participate.

Jeff and I will probably roll up together and I can dig up a dozen or so parts to add to the pile. Rear bumper, rock chip guard, cable throttle w/bracket, hubcaps, & other misc.

Thanks for organizing this fundraising event Roger! [thumb] Maybe Jeff can transfer a reimbursement via PayPal or get it to you somehow. I'm sure we can make the $35 back pretty quick.

Also, people sell all kinds of stuff at this swap meet so it doesn't have to be strictly Falcon parts.

I will probably be setting up a "drop-zone" for parts that need to go and I'll probably borrow our company flatbed to make it easier to haul lots of stuff. The drop zone will be likely at a warehose near the BurgerMaster where our meeting are. I'll only be able to store things for the week leading up to that weekend, so we can coordinate all of this over the next couple of weeks - here on the forum.

I think I have a flex plate for a small block Ford that is a 157 thooth that is brand new.. I have no idea where it came from..
I'll see what else i can scrounge up.. I no longer have the 3.03 trans..

I have a 62 falcon wagon that I'm starting to wish would disappear..

Roger,

All my stuff will fit in Jeff's car so we'll bring it with us and get there first thing Sat. am. to arrange things. Mostly small parts. That would be easier then trying to drop them off with you.

Let me know if you need me to bring anything else. I'll bring the usual club recruitment things.

Hi Kenny, Unless Pat is coming with us (he is welcome) can you pick up the banner?

Roger, what time should Kenny and I arrive to man the booth on Saturday?

Do we have anyone on Sunday? Do you feel you have enough help Friday? Kenny and I can't get off work that day but thought I should start the schedule conversation.

Luva65wagon

I'll be hauling all the big stuff on Friday and getting the tent setup and stuff like that.

Saturday setup is "I think" 7AM to 9AM on Saturday morning for last minute things. You can bring what you want to bring then. If it's a carload of things you'll be able to drive in on Saturday, but you'll have to get the placard from me to do that. Either of you can call me when you get there and I can bring it out to you.

Gene Smith is dropping some things off at my house tomorrow (Wednesday) as I'll be home all day getting Fios installed (adios Comcast) It's stuff he had and stuff he picked up from Nathan on the East side.

Actually, I think Gene and John are going to be available on Friday and my friend Bill will likely be bringing out a couple things. We may have a full lot! We can talk schedule more at the meeting next week as well. I'll send out a reminder of that tomorrow as I test my new Internet speed. :D

Umm, isn't the next meeting scheduled the Wednesday AFTER the meeting? We had decided to keep it the third Wednesday to keep consistent.

Yeah - What was I thinking! Obviously I wasn't -- So yes, the meeting is on the 20th not the 13th.

So at this point there's going to be a lot of parts there. Jay Baker is bringing a huge supply of items as are a few others. So the best I can say to do at this point is to get there on Friday myself and get my stuff out and anybody else who can show up on Friday can off-load as well. You Saturday folks got to be there pretty early.

I checked tonight to be sure what the setup times are and they are as follows:

Fri 12PM to 9PM
Sat 5AM to 7AM
Sun 7AM to 8AM

Show times are:

Sat 8AM to 5PM
Sun 9AM to 2PM

Our space at the meet is Area 31 Stall 13

I'm not sure how much space I'll have left on the truck when I put what I have here already, but we have only one dash placard, so I think we should just span out the times and when one vehicle is off-loaded, then the next vehicle can drive it. Anybody driving part there should call me to arrange this. PM me if you need my number.

Well... I may have a problem. They came to me today (at work) saying the flatbed I plan to use has been acting up somehow. Don't know what it is yet other than it's hard starting and running really bad, but I'm going to try and look into it.

Was anyone planning to bring stuff to me to haul that hasn't already done so?

Jeff W
May 12th, 2009, 05:30 PM
Roger, I wish I had a solution for you. I don't think the Convertible can haul much besides the few boxes that Kenny and I have assembled.

My van is currently having a serious coolant issue (I fear a head gasket or cracked head... which is fatal in an Aerostar with 140K on the clock).

Let me know how I can help.

Luva65wagon
May 12th, 2009, 08:23 PM
THe concern is for anyone who was going to bring stuff to work and have me haul it. So far nobody has said "for sure" they needed that. I can drive my pickup to work on Thursday at the very least if anyone brings anything between now and Wednesday night. Essentially - speak up now. I've got room in my pickup for all I have already and maybe more and my friend Bill is driving his little Ranger here on Friday morning as well and we'll use it too if we have to.

Roger,

I have a few things to drop with you. Where and when is a good time to meet?

Jeff W
May 13th, 2009, 04:32 PM
Roger,

Kenny, Patrick and I plan of arriving about 8:00 am Saturday and putting the Convertible in the Car Corral. Are you going to be there to open the stand, point us in the right direction and form a plan to tag team the day so we can all have a look around.

Do you have a feel where: Area 31 stall 13 is? I hope not in the back corner behind the bathrooms... where no one goes unless the bathroom line is too long.

Can you PM me your cell phone? I'll do the same.

Luva65wagon
May 13th, 2009, 04:48 PM
I have no idea where that is, but I know where it is you are referring to and there's decent restroom traffic there. And at least it's not in the dirt. But they didn't send a map of the layout to say where the space is. I know it's within walking distance [thumb]

Yeah -- right up in front. Too bad they're going to make me wind through all the other spaces from the back-forty forward to get back up to the front.

One good thing -- the truck from work was delivered today after its $600 tune-up. Probably some plugs and a cap and adjust the timing. I have to look at what they did for that.

Anyway, I'll be able to bring all I have here in one trip -- which is good. Plan to be there by about 1 PM or thereabouts. And then again at about 7 AM Saturday.

Nice turnout today at the meet. We had a pretty fun day of it. Thanks to all of you who made it out to help and donate parts -- and hope all that couldn't make it are doing well. Weather was perfect and I hope it's as nice tomorrow!

We did well selling things too and made more than enough to pay for the space and cushion the bank account so we can do some things as a club. The final tally will be presented at the next meeting, Wednesday next week.

Cheers!

Ditto...it was nice to just hang around taking it easy. We passed out a lot of cards and got some great exposure for the club. Hope to see lots of new faces this summer along with the usual.

Roger, thanks for running the booth on Sunday and packing all that stuff out. Be sure the club buys some gas for the flatbed so we can use it again in the future.

May 17th, 2009, 10:47 PM
Considering I had to spend almost two hours working on it to get it to the meet -- I think they owe me gas!

Actually I'm going to have to talk to whoever did the "$600 tune-up" on the thing last week, because if I did a tune-up and delivered a car back that runs as bad as that, I'd expect to be out of business real quick. I actually suspect it has a jumped timing chain. Either that or the outer ring has spun on the Harmonic Balancer and the timing mark is in the wrong place. It was predetonating a lot an the timing says almost 20 BTDC now (I think 10 is where it should be).
